I know this is a little off piste/vineyard but bear with me…
Did you or friends drink cider and black at uni?
I have ‘vivid’ memories of pints of fizzy, sweet, apple and blackcurrant concoctions…and of their after effects!
Well that was a few (ahem) years ago, and had slipped my mind until today when I met Polgoon Cornish Black Fruit Cider. I’m glad to report that both the drink and I have grown up.
On first sniff…I got a not-unpleasant flashback with its ribena-like aroma. However after a quick swirl an interesting leafiness and altogether more sophisticated aroma took over.
The blackcurrant and apple flavours are intense but nicely balanced, with the black fruits lingering on.
Unless you’re local or fancy purchasing 24 bottles online from the Polgoon site I think you might struggle to find this -which is a shame. Waitrose is stocking it in just one branch so far – fingers crossed they bring it to other stores soon.
Now to put on some KLF or Inspiral Carpets!
